As a result of the studies carried out in Hakkari and its districts by the Faculty of Education, department of Science education and presented to TUBITAK under the Project “The investigation  Investigation  of Tomato Ring Spot Virus; ToRSV through RT-PCR”  that lasted twelve months, it was found that some samples had the virus.
With the project, supported within the TUBİTAK-TOVAG 1140864 framework, samples of tomato, pepper, cucumber and vine leves were collected in the field study in Hakkari province between 2014 and 2015 .  In the survey conducted within the Project, ToRSV was first detected in Hakkari city centre and county of Cukurca. Asst.Prof. Dr. Nevin Akdura YEŞİLYURT, the  project coordinator,  said: "As a result of our research the DNA sequences belonging to isolates of two tomatoes, tomato ring spot virus; ToRSV) and two peppers were recorded into Gene Bank website.  The investigation for the agent of ToRSV was first carried in Hakkari  through this project. Thus, 4 isolates from Turkey were recorded into Gene Bank. Later, different viral diseases are going to be investigated in our province. Provincial Directorate of Agriculture will be informed about the case and so necessary precautions will be taken against viral infections by  means of this study.  I would like to first thank to Mr Ceylan, our rector, my colleagues and Turkey Scientific and Technical Research Council (TUBITAK) that supported the project financially and as the project conductor.
